energizing growth: regional economic development grants

Please note: DP&L is not currently accepting applications for Regional Economic Development Grants.

Local community organizations play a vital role in the economic well-being of our region. Local chambers, economic development groups, community improvement corporations and others all work together to create an environment conducive to business and a high quality of life. To support the important mission of these organizations, DP&L created the Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants.

RED Grants are awarded to local and regional organizations in support of economic development. Grants are awarded for a variety of programs and activities that enhance the marketability of a particular industrial site, promote the retention and expansion of existing businesses, or foster job growth throughout the region. Specific examples include:

  • Site readiness investments
  • Environmental site assessments
  • Retention and expansion surveys
  • Workforce development
  • Community and regional marketing

How does DP&L evaluate RED Grant applications?

In evaluating applications, DP&L will consider the initiative’s overall economic impact on the region, including:

  • What is the short-term and long-term economic impact?
  • How will the initiative retain and create jobs? How many jobs will be impacted?
  • Does the program or organization have a positive long-term impact that makes the economy stronger?
  • Does the organization, program or activity encourage a partnership approach for success? Are DP&L employees involved with the organization or the initiative?

Grant recipients must be one of the following:

  • A 501(c)3 designated organization
  • An economic development group
  • A local government entity

Examples of qualifying organizations include regional economic development councils, chambers of commerce, and community improvement corporations.

Further, the organization, and the initiative being funded must benefit a geographic area served by Dayton Power & Light.
