This project will provide improved grid reliability and greater flexibility by installing automatic sectionalizer switches along the Shelby-Amsterdam 138kV transmission lines. A sectionalizer is a device that automatically isolates faults on electrical systems and confines a power outage to a smaller section of the line. This will help DP&L reduce how many customers are impacted by an outage and restore service faster. The new switches will also give DP&L the ability to sectionalize the transmission system remotely.
